The Council of Australian Life Insurers (CALI) has welcomed the Life Insurance Code Compliance Committee’s (Life CCC) announcement that Ms Anna Meulman will join the Committee as Consumer Representative from 1 July 2026.
CALI CEO Christine Cupitt said the appointment comes at an important time, with the Life Insurance Code of Practice currently undergoing an independent review.
“Strong, independent oversight of the Life Code is essential to maintaining trust and accountability across the life insurance industry,” Ms Cupitt said.
“Ms Meulman’s experience at the Consumer Action Law Centre will bring an essential customer perspective to the Committee at a time when the industry is actively working to ensure the Life Code remains strong, practical and aligned with community expectations.”
Ms Cupitt also thanked outgoing Consumer Representative Ms Alexandra Kelly of Financial Rights Legal Centre for her longstanding service on the Committee.
“Ms Kelly has played an important role in helping ensure customer perspectives are reflected in the Committee’s work since the Life Code came into effect,” Ms Cupitt said.
“We thank her for her contribution and commitment to the Life Code’s role in supporting better outcomes for customers.”
