Government response to the Privacy Act Review Report

Department/Organisation: Attorney-General’s Department

CALI supports the need to strengthen and modernise Australia’s privacy laws to address emerging risks.

For life insurers to continue to support Australians, access to, the ability to hold and disclose data required to be able to provide services to customers, whilst continuing to operate in compliance with the existing obligations that the industry has in relation to customer data and privacy to government and regulators, privacy reforms should balance the legitimate rights of individuals and insurers’ ability to administer policies on their behalf and prudently manage risk.
